An Egyptian film director, graduate of the High Cinema Institute in Cairo in 1969 with Excellence. He worked as an assistant director with senior directors such as: Shady Abdel Salam, Youssef Chahine and Hasan El Imam. He gained his MA in 1991 and Doctorate of Arts in 1999. He is a professor of Film & TV directing at the Higher Cinema Institute and lecturer on Film Studies at various universities & cultural institutions. Samir Seif is a working film director since 1976 when he made his first feature “Circle of Revenge” with 25 feature films to his credit, most of which were big commercial successes and critically acclaimed, including: The Suspect 1981, The Female And The Tiger 1987 and Shams El Zanati 1991. He also awarded of 7 "Best Director" awards in official and non-official competitions. He served as a juror in many film festivals such as: Cairo International Film festival, Alexandria International Film Festival, International Cairo Child Film Festival. He was also the president of the Egyptian National Film Festival.
